bullet  General Notes:

Amanda was known to be a lover of flowers. In her later years, she dearly loved to be taken on drives through the country.

She enjoyed watching football, boxing and other TV shows which had action, allowing her to obtain some entertainment without hearing the details (her hearing having somewhat failed in later years). She also engaged in sewing, particularily in her younger years.

Amanda attributed her strong faith in god as the reason for her longevity (living to age 99). She read the Bible every night before retiring. "God is always with me, and I'm never along. He's always been so good to me.", she told an interviewer for a newspaper article on her 98th birthday. 1 2 12
