bullet  Research Notes:

The baptism record on which this family member is based, shows the name as Heinrich Geroth Thomas, with one of the sponsors being Geroth Bauermann. In the book of Simmern area families, Dr. Michael Frauenberger shows this person with the name Georg. However, through careful analysis of handwritting of other names and words, there is strong evidence to support the name being Gerhard.

In this church, there are baptisms by Nichol and Maria Christina Bauermann, Jacob and Anna Maria Bauermann, Nikol and Henrietta Maria Catharina Bauerman, Michol Bauermann, Geroth and Eva Catharina Bauermann, and Gerhard and Eva Catharina Bauermann. In this section of records recorded by the same recorder, there was a baptism on 17 April 1735 (p 41) of Maria Eva Bauermann, parents being Geroth Bauermann and Eva Catharina, with no others by Gerhard Bauerman. Outside of the records recorder by this same recorder, there is no mention of a Geroth Thomas or a Geroth Bauermann. Then on p. 48 with a different recorder, is the baptism of Johann Jacob on 17 May 1737 (parents Gerhard Bauermann and wife Eva Catharina of Bergenhausen), with Anna Elisabetha Thomasin being one of the sponsors. Suggests Geroth is a form of the name Gerhard used by this particular recorder.
